what creates suspense

One way that authors create suspense is characters working against the deadline .An example from trash is Raphael, Gardo and rat are trying to solve the mystery of Jose Angelico  death before the police  catch them. This shows that three boys are risking their lives to solve the mystery of Jose Angelico  before they get catch by the police. And the reader doesn't know who is going to win.Another example that creates suspense is Raphael, Gardo and Rat are scared they are going to get caught by the police. This shows  that they are scared that the police are going to catch them and kill them .And the reader doesn't know if the police is gonna catch the boys or not.the last example When Gardo and Olivia went to prison and they had limited time to talk to Gabriel Olondriz. this means that they don't have much time to get information. And the readers doesn't  know if they will get the info from Gabriel Olondriz or not .

The second way that authors create suspense is conflict . An example from trash is Raphael and his family arguing about the bag .This means that Raphael and his family are in opposite side because of money. The readers doesn't know if Raphael will give the bag to the police or not .the second example is Raphael at the police station with the police. This means that they are in danger because the police maybe will kill Raphael and Gardo. The readers doesn't know if they will get kill or not.third example of conflict is that Marco won’t give them the bible without payment.this means that the boys need to pay first for getting the bible to get the next clue .The readers doesn't know if the boys will get the bible or not .

The third way the author create suspense is using sensory details to create an air of mystery,an example is the feeling of dirts and smells of people haven’t showered. This means the people in the dumpsite .The readers know the details of the boys . The second example is There was no sound at all coming from the rooftop, this creates a sense of “where are they?” and a surprise and mystery moment. This means that there is someone looking for them. The readers doesn't know who is under them this is what makes it have an intense feeling .The third and final example of using sensory details to create an air of mystery is A policeman was smoking near the boys, staring at them suspiciously. Even a woman washing her clothes and two children with a dog also stared slyly. The dog also stopped barking. This means that the police and the dog have a weird feeling about them. The readers doesnt know what is the policemen and the dog going to do.

The fourth way the author create suspense is adding an element of surprise ,an example from trash is when Raphael was being taken away by the police. This means that the readers were shock when Raphael got taken by the police. The second example is When the gardener started talking to them and they thought it was a policemen. The meaning of this is that they were surprise that it was a gardener when they thought he was a police .The third example is The whole place went quiet for a moment. Then, minutes later, noises could be heard  and boy, they were loud! This makes for an excellent element of surprise! This means that they were shocked when it was quite to very noisy.
